Featured is Earl's famous poem "Katahdin", which came to Earl in a dream the day before he made his final ascent up the mountain to finish the Appalachian Trail on his 50th anniversary thru-hike. The color photograph is a museum-quality print of Mount Katahdin, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, the morning after the year's first snowstorm the same year that Earl made his final ascent of Mount Katahdin.

 

This collector's item is dedicated to the legacy of Earl Shaffer, celebration of long-distance hiking, and conservation of the Appalachian Trail. Of the proceeds, $100 constitutes a tax-deductible donation to the Appalachian Trail Museum and the Earl Shaffer Foundation, both dedicated to preserving and continuing Earl's legacy of Appalachian Trail conservation and long-distance hiking.
